The physicians and clinicians of Bufalo Spine and Sports Medicine participate in workers’ compensation insurance. Workers’ compensation is an insurance that provides cash benefits and/or medical care for workers who are injured or become ill as a direct result of their job.

If you have a workers’ comp injury you must report the incident, in writing, to your employer promptly, within 30 days of the accident.

Since all cases are not approved by workers’ comp, our office policy requires that a secondary insurance must be provided for patients being treated under workers’ compensation.

Please be aware, if your secondary insurance requires a referral to see a specialist, you must obtain a valid referral from your primary care physician or it will be necessary for you to sign a waiver prior to your visit at Buffalo Spine and Sports Medicine. Under “Policies and Forms,” there are two documents that you might want to review:

- Workers’ Comp - Common Questions
- Workers’ Comp - How Does the System Really Work

This and other information is also available at the New York State Workers’ Comp website at www.wcb.ny.gov.
